Margaret Holtschlag
Founder and Program Director
Margaret is the founder/creator of the BIG Lesson Programs (Nature, Zoo, History, Science). She was Michigan Teacher of the Year 2000 and National Teacher of the Year finalist 2000, elementary teacher in Haslett Public Schools, and Michigan State University instructor for the South Africa Teacher Internship program. Margaret currently works as director of the BIG Lesson programs, and works with nature centers, zoos and museums in the development and implementation of using these community sites for week-long interdisciplinary study trips for students, parents, and teachers, including scientific inquiry and content, observations and tours, and community expert presentations. Culminations are stewardship activities, research projects, and community action plans.
